Fall Semester Starting

Well it is that time of year again!

And it is kicking my butt! I just healed from throwing out my back (I have never hurt my back that badly - with the exception of when I first blew out my lumbar disks back in my early 20's) - was completely out of work for 2 months, and just started going back to work the same week that the fall semester started ... talk about a double whammy!

And then this weekend, had to deal with having the FLU - because I bragged about not getting sick, so the universe needed to spank me and take me down a few pegs I guess LOL. So maybe that is a triple whammy, now that I think about it, LOL.

Trying to finish up my commissions cuz I know how I get when I'm all focused on school ... I tend to just go to work and do homework and sleep ... so figuring that's just par for my course, hee!

I have like 5 ATC swaps I'm working on as well and trying to get a bunch of Halloween / spooky art done in time for a Halloween show at a local art gallery that is doing a collective Halloween show and then organizing the Fall/Autumn online show for the OG as well (thank the gods I'll have help with that one!) ... sooo yeah. My head is spinning!

But I suppose I'd prefer being busy as opposed to not .. and my tiny little container garden this year is kicking butt!

Hopefully I will find time to finish this next batch of comic ACEOs / sketch cards .... here is a peek of the WIPs that I haven't had any time to finish yet ...

New! Faery ACEO on ebay!

Okay so I really don't do as much fairy art as I probably should (I know! I know! - if there was ever anyone that should be doing gobs and gobs of it, it's me, right? LOL!) ... soo this I did precisely for that reason ... because I really *ought* to be doing more fairy art.

So here's a cute and pretty fairy for those of you that love the lighter side of the fey ... I keep meaning to go to deeper places with this sort of theme, but I just can't seem to find anything with enough substance in me to do it justice yet ... maybe someday though!

Finished another commissioned painting!

Yay! This one was a long time in coming ... school and a variety of other things kept delaying it so I was sooo happy to finally get it done!

And now with school out - I can start painting more and doing some sculpting! Kinda curious if I can finish a few sculpts this summer!

My first art show for my 2d art in like 20+ years!

Yup - I actually have some art hung up at a local gallery in a full fledged show with other artists - and it has been a long long long time!!

I am really out of my league and am rather intimidated by how freaking GREAT they all are, but i figured, well, even if my art does suck compared to theirs ... so what? LOL!

But yeah, these artists are AMAZING - it's an honor to be allowed to show alongside of them!

I did take a couple of pictures of my work on the wall and of my prints on the shelf ... but for some reason I was all stupid and didn't take a picture of my art on the shelves .... ah well!

Here's the wall that my pieces are hung, they are the 4 on the far right ...



I am in LOVE with the top two larger paintings ... aren't they exquisite??

I thought it looked pretty cool,but then I am most assuredly biased, hee hee!

The show runs until June 8th, so it will be up for a little bit ... which is pretty exciting for me!

Commissioned Mermaid Painting Finished

Did this a little bit ago and forgot to add it here until now! Ack!

They wanted something a little like my Bella ACEO - only larger and just wanted that basic pose ... so Muriel is what the result was:



I really like how it turned out! I am going to make prints of this one for sure! :)

Playing with my toys

This weekend was fun, I got a few new "toys" - an UV light and UV resin that is designed for jewelry to start testing out for eyes.

Hoping to finish up my commissions this week and get to start on my ADO steampunk challenge and finish my OG challenge for making a little beastie as well.

But it is nice to finally be feeling better and get some free time to work on making art!

It's been a long couple of years - money has been tight, and things were not going very well for a long time. Seemed like there was just something going wrong at EVERY bend. It was very draining, very sad, and very challenging.

But it seems my tunnel is seeing some light at long last. Things have been greatly improving near the end of 2010 and things just seem to FINALLY be going my way - and the constant pressure on me has eased greatly.

I might even get an actual diagnosis for my health issues that have been plaguing me for the past 2 years severely enough to land me in the hospital a few times. I'm not real crazy about it, and really not liking what they might have to do to fix me, but ... at least I'd know and it might be ABLE to be fixed! lol

It's just been about 2 years since my heart and soul felt this light and joyful. It seems like the future is bright and that all the things that faltered and fell apart are coming back together and that things are not going wrong as a rule these days.

THANK THE HEAVENS. I feel like I can finally breathe again without cringing and feeling that something was going to kick me at every corner. I feel free and happy and productive ... and THAT hasn't been true for like the last 3 years so I am really glad to have that part back.

My muse is bubbling away, and has actually been throwing a few fits - Yay! Just hope this trend continues, cuz lord knows, I have more than paid my dues to have some good times and things come my way, LOL!

Just really need to knock out my two commissions and then start playing ... 2011 I think is going to be a FUN year for me! :)
